The hip and buttocks Liposculpture procedure at Houston Smart Lipo Centers is easier and safer than traditional liposuction. First, a local, sterile anesthetic is used to numb the area. Then, a laser is used to gently melt the fat directly under the skin and to encourage skin-tightening. Incisions are then placed in the folds of the buttocks just above the thigh, allowing the doctor to remove excess fat. The cannula used to remove the fat is only about 3mm wide - slow, gentle movements mean less pain, less bruising, and a rapid recovery time for patients.

What are the benefits of hip and buttocks liposuction?

What is the procedure like?

The Hip and Buttocks Liposculpture procedure is performed in our offices under local anesthesia - all patients remain awake and alert.  First, the skin is numbed and two small incisions are placed just above the thigh and under the buttocks.  Using gentle suction, fat is removed using a gently vibrating cannula, or straw-like instrument.  The cannula itself is only 3mm wide- about the size of a strand of cooked spaghetti - and won't leave any unsightly scars.  The procedure lasts about an hour or two, and patients walk out of the office with newfound confidence.

Am I a good candidate for hip and buttocks Liposculpture?

Tumescent Liposuction of the hips and buttocks is a safe procedure for most men and women who have a high accumulation of fatty deposits on the hips or butt. Anyone who is over the age of 60, has had a gastric bypass, or has lost over 100 pounds may need to take extra precautions and may wish to consider further skin-tightening procedures for loose or lax skin.  

Can hip and buttocks Liposuction be combined with other procedures?

Of course. Many of our patients choose to combine Tumescent Liposuction of the hips and buttocks with other procedures - particularly thigh Liposculpture. This way, we can target all of your problem areas at once.

Will I have any scars or sagging skin?

Tumescent Liposuction at Houston Smart Lipo Centers uses a very small tube to remove fat and will not leave any unsightly scars. The puncture sites will naturally close within a day or two, fading into the surrounding skin.

When combined with Smart Lipo, Liposculpture is designed to promote skin-tightening and restore collagen.   Unless your skin is already very thin, wrinkled, or lax due to aging or dramatic weight loss, you will usually see an improvement in skin tone and firmness. 

What are the post-op procedures?

Following the procedure, patients normally experience only mild discomfort - similar to that felt after strenuous exercise.  You will be able to walk immediately after, enjoy light to medium activities, and return to work in a day or two. 

Some, but not all, patients will experience mild bruising.  A compression garment similar to bike shorts will be worn continuously for 3 days and nights, then at least 8 hours a day for 2 weeks. 

Some patients may experience swelling after the procedure.  It may take up to two months to see permanent results from the Tumescent Liposuction procedure. While it does take a while for the swelling to go down, there is usually minimal to no pain involved.  With Tumescent Liposuction of the hips and buttocks, there are no stitches and the tiny puncture wounds will naturally close within two days.
